Californian Company Touts Methanol-To-Hydrogen Propulsion Solution for Existing Ships to Meet Green Requirements

RIX Industries of California has a real-time methanol-to-hydrogen conversion machine for hydrogen-on-demand to fuel hydrogen-based fuel cells.

This lets shippers retrofit their ships with methanol-to-hydrogen electrification for propulsion and other applications without having complicated cryogenic refrigeration requirements nor high-pressure storage.

TDJ Commentary: Ships will not run on electricity stored in batteries. Likely, in 10 to 15 years neither will cars nor trucks.

Carbon-Coated Nickel Enables Fuel Cell Free of Precious Metals

Expensive precious metals, such as platinum, are currently required in hydrogen fuel cells to efficiently catalyze the reactions they employ to produce electricity.

Researchers at Cornell University have discovered that a nitrogen doped carbon-coated nickel anode can catalyze an essential reaction in hydrogen fuel cells at a fraction of the cost of the precious metals.

TDJ Commentary: Hydrogen fuel cells continue to look like a strong contenter for future power based on electricity.

New Zealand Dairy Exporters Optimistic About China Market Potentials as Rcep Came into Effect

RCEP certification and customs procedures are simplified and more convenient. Customs clearance times are shortened, which greatly reduces cost.

TDJ Commentary: RCEP is going to be huge. China will become the absolute biggest economy by 2030. Look into New Zealand firms with a long history of paying dividends and exporting.

Baidu to Launch Self-Driving Taxi Service in Zhejiang

Chinese tech giant Baidu Inc said it will offer self-driving taxi service in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province.

Baidu is the world's largest autonomous mobility service provider having provided nearly 213,000 autonomous rides in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Baidu Apollo's L4 autonomous vehicles have driven more than 25 million kilometers, with 593 autonomous driving permits in China, including 398 for carrying passengers. L4 autonomy means the vehicle can drive by itself under most circumstances without a human backup driver.

Baidu is down -58% from its NASDAQ peak hit on 19-Feb-2021.

TDJ Commentary: Baidu might be cheap. Anything China until 2030 looks good.
