WHAT THE 2020 IOWA CAUCUS REVEALS. IT'S A BERNIE AND PETE RACE FOR 2020 BECAUSE THE OTHER CANDIDATES ARE ILL-ADVISED DOPES

The Democratic Party held a caucus in Iowa, which is how the Democrats in Iowa allocate their convention delegates. The results of their 2020 Iowa Caucus cuould not be reported until today, Tuesday, February 4, 2020, because the Democrats paid for shoddy software that failed, much in the same way that Obama paid for shoddy software that failed to run the Obamacare exchanges.

So what happened? Here are the key takeaways:

  1. Rural Dems want Pete Buttigieg the male homosexual.
  2. Urban Dems (Des Moines, Cedar Rapids) want Bernie the Socialist.

The big losers are Joe Biden, the suspected pedophile and ex-vice president of the United States, and Elizabeth Warren, the woman has repeatedly lied about herself, whether claiming to be a Cherokee indian when she is not or claiming to have been fired because she was pregnant when she had not.

Also among the big losers are the billionaires, Tom Steyer and the extremely short Michael Bloomberg—it would surprise if he is even five feet tall. This shows that Dems do not want outside candidates buying their way into an election. Supposedly, Bloomberg has spent over $300 million thus far.

To be sure, that likely will be the pattern in the lead up to the Democratic Party National Convention.

So why are Bernie Sanders and Pete Buttigieg the front runners. Well, for starters, neither have reputations of being liars. Buttigieg won the rural Dem vote perhaps because he seems to be a mature politician with a cool demeanor. Sanders won the urban Dem vote perhaps because of higher minority populations who have become enchanted by Sanders promising free medical insurance (aka "healthcare") and free higher education tuition.

A Two Horse Race or a Five Horse Race?

If anything, Iowa reveals that five candidates have been taken seriously by Iowan voters, a pattern likely to hold in the upcoming conventional primaries.

The mistake Warren has made thus far is trying to be the female Sanders, the one promising free stuff. Sanders already has that positioning locked up.

To make this a five-horse race rather than one between Sanders and Buttigieg, the other three, Warren, Klobucher and Biden, must run against Sanders and Buttigieg rather than the giant error they have committed thus far—running against Trump.

The Winning Strategy

The strategy for four candidates not named Sanders should be clear. None will beat Sanders by trying to become more socialist than Sanders is. Already people perceive Sanders as the authentic socialist.

The smart move is to devise a platform that appeals to suburban and rural voters, or roughly 65% of registered Democrats. That 65% is nearly double the 35% of urban Democratic voters.

Considering that 80% of Republican voters also are rural and suburban voters, the same message, which appeals to Democrat suburban and rural voters ought to appeal Republican suburban and rural voters in the general election.

So what might be such a message?

  • create a fairer more generous system but not one like Sanders, which would lead to collapse as you see in Venezuela
  • a tax write-off for medical insurance premiums
  • a tax write-off for higher education tuition including trade schools
  • a presidency in which you can take pride without embarrassing tweets that insult people
  • controlled immigration that helps farmers but does not hurt rural workers and does not threaten the safety of suburban families
The smart candidate would agree that Trump is right that urban elites in New York City, Washington, DC, Chicago and San Francisco hurt everyone in the USA who is not super-rich, including those who live in the big cities who are plagued with drug-dealing gang violence because there are no jobs for people of color.

The smart candidate would recognize that rural people work hard and suburban people have worked for what they have, but a Sanders solution would mock their hard work.

Until the four other horses recognize they must run against Sanders rather than against Trump, at least three, Warren, Klobucher and Biden, will not have a shot.

Also, both Warren and Klobucher have yet one more tactic, which both should play: Sanders and Biden are too old. Sanders had a heart attack only a few months ago. A vote for Bernie or Joe is a vote for their vice-presidents.

As well, Warren and Klobucher should tout the youthful inexperience of Buttigieg. Both should attack Mayor Pete as a small-timer, a guy who ran a crime-infested small suburban city. Both should tout their in-their-prime ages and their experience as US senators.
