Protecting Obama
Before ex-president Obama's 2012 re-election effort, Twitter left it up to users to block others with whom they disagreed, by whom they were antagonized or with whom entered into a flame war.
During the run-up to the Obama re-election, Twitter execs took it upon themselves to make Twitter a safe space for pro-Obama supporters and a punishment mechanism for those against Obama.
As actors and actresses became more vocal over Obama support, Twitter execs decided to protect actors and actresses from ridicule by banning those who would expose actors and actresses for their stupidity.
By doing so, all kinds of struggle groups came forth seeking protection from Twitter execs.
- Mohammadans came forth demanding censorship against those critical of Mohammadans or Mohammadism after murderous Mohammadan terrorist acts.
- Cross-dressing tranny homosexuals demanded that all others take them seriously.
- Third-wave feminists whose hatred of males arises from their jealously over good looking females, demanded protection of their irrational propaganda.
- Anti-white racist blacks (BLM) pushing for legalized criminality in American black slums demanded protection.
- The chronically obese demanded protection from any statements critical of the obese, even statements that reveal the public health problem of obesity.
The Pivot to Celebrities and the Rise of the Twitter Stasi
Compounding the problem for Twitter execs was their huge mistake of pivoting to celebrities whether actors, actresses, athletes, TV talking heads as their focus.
By doing so, Twitter execs anointed these people as having tweets that count for more than obscure (read: not famous) users. Thus, Twitter execs had to white-knight defend celebs when celebs revealed themselves to be stupid as ordinary users mocked them for their stupidity.
Twitter went from a IRC-like, web based chat service for ordinary people to a platform for establishment voices.
Anyone who is an Internet veteran from say 1994 to 2004 knows that IRC was the original trolling playground. The only way to handle trolls on IRC was to kick/ban trolls from channels.
And anyone who knows IRC, knows that channel managers would become tyrants, kicking and banning anyone with whom they disagreed. They would justify their acts by labeling their opponents as trolls.
That is what Twitter execs do today. That is why Twitter has become a #fail as they say in Internet-speak.
At the behest of mankind spotted owls, countless Twitter users who identify with struggle groups — feminists, queerists, BLM black racists, heathen Mohammadans, the disgustingly fat — Twitter execs have become a Stasi, a Ministry for State Security, a repressive force against the perceived enemies of their protected struggle groups and state propagandists — actors and actresses.
The Fixes for Twitter are Easy
Restrict @ Functionality / Change @ Functionality
Do not let strangers @ each other. Instead, only let someone @ another if that other has followed the one doing the @'ingAnnounce that Twitter Will No Longer Police Twitter
Inform Twitter users that it is up to each one of them to block users with whom they do not agree, dislike, find offensive, etc.There is nothing like the force of the fear of being made outcast. Such a fear invokes a strong incentive for anyone to play right with others.
