Back in the 2019 True Dollar Journal Cities USA Guide, I introduced to readers a measure based on after-tax income after adjusting for the cost of living for every city.
In this guide, that concept expands into an index using the national average as a base. This way, you can see the buying power you would have in any metro with the metros ranked by the unemployment rate.
You find the best metros in which to live where you dollar buys more and where most everyone has continued to work through the supposed Covid-19 pandemic in Wisconsin, notably Wausau, which has 21.2% higher buying power than the 389 USA metros on the whole and Fond du Lac, which has 21.8% buying power with only a slight uptick in unemployment.
